‍2014 Meeting April 5th in Mobile at the University of South Alabama

Please circulate this announcement to interested physics faculty members.The Alabama Section AAPT Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the University of South Alabama Faculty Club located just east of the corner of Old Shell Road and Hillcrest Blvd in Mobile.
We invite presentations on any topic that would be of interest to physics teachers at the high school, two-year, or four-year college levels. Presentations may be 20, 40, or 60 minutes. If you wish to make a presentation, please send a title and your desired presentation length to Justin Sanders at: jsanders@southalabama.edu.

Included in our program will be a make-and-take session and a session for physics lecture demonstrations. Please bring your favorite make-and-take or demonstration to share with the Alabama AAPT community. If you plan to bring a make-and-take, reimbursement for materials will be available. Please let us know if you are bringing a make-and-take, a demonstration, or both.

The tentative program for the meeting will be:

8:30 a.m. Registration
Registration will take place promptly at 8:30 a.m.
9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. Presentations
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Lunch
1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Make-and-take/demonstration session, additional presentations
2:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Business meeting

LUNCH: Lunch will be provided to all conference participants by the University. There will be two entre choices available: Seafood Boil or Southern Traditional Dinner (fried chicken, glazed ham, etc.).
It is imperative that we have an accurate attendee count in order to accommodate our special lunch plans. If you are planning to attend, please notify me as soon as possible at jsanders@southalabama.edu and state your preference for lunch. LODGING: There are a number of hotels/motels within three miles of the Faculty Club (most are along Interstate 65). The Battle House Renaissance, a renovated historic hotel (251-338-2000), and Renaissance Riverview (251-438-2000) are downtown near the waterfront, about eight miles away. These are RSA hotels and offer discounted weekend rates for state employees. Call the hotels to inquire.
